Mercedes-Benz announced its final collaboration with late fashion designer Virgil Abloh in December. The automobile, named Maybach by Virgil Abloh, is a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class S680 variant that will be produced in a limited amount of 150 cars. The automobile, which will be released in 2021 in conjunction with Mercedes-chief Benz’s design officer Gorden Wagener, is Abloh’s final collaboration before his sad death in November last year.
The first vehicle to be revealed was a solar-powered electric vehicle with zero emissions, which debuted in December. A 6.0-litre V12 engine powers this for-sale Mayback by Virgil Abloh. The luxury sedan, like the showcase car, has a two-tone color scheme of sand and black.
“The characteristic two-tone color-way of Project Maybach does [remain], and it is the most noticeable design aspect connecting the limited edition to Project Maybach”, Wagener stated in an interview with dezeen. The upper half of the car’s body is coated in a glossy obsidian black. The lower section, side sides, and distinctive forged rims are sand-colored. Other iconic Maybach components are the 20-inch wheels and trademark barred grille.
Moving on to the inside, it features the same two-tone color scheme, with the steering wheel, doors, lower dashboard, and ceiling lined in black. Simultaneously, the car’s upholstery is made of sand-colored Nappa leather. The vehicle is also emblazoned with the Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logos.

A special capsule collection designed by Virgil Abloh’s Off-White label will be released alongside this release. Cotton t-shirts, fleece sweatshirts, hoodies, and a canvas hat are among the complementing fashion accessories. These clothes have the same sand and black tones as the four-wheeler and take design inspiration from it.

One of the collection’s standouts has to be the pair of suede driving gloves. It has a blue Velcro strap over the wrists that letters “ABLOH” – a nod to the visionary and cultural icon. The lucky owners of this limited edition Maybach by Virgil Abloh will receive a custom-made wooden box holding a 1/18 scale copy of the identical vehicle, two car keys, a carabiner hook, and a special car cover displaying the Mercedes-Maybach and Virgil Abloh logos.
