Fendi and American jeweler Tiffany & Co. have collaborated to design a special version of the classic Baguette bag to commemorate its 25th anniversary. The national flowers of Italy and New York State are inscribed on the “Tiffany Baguette,” an exceptional handbag that is made completely of sterling silver. The Fendi Baguette “hand-in-hand” program, a grassroots collaboration with regional artisans around Italy, is represented by this one-of-a-kind bag.
The company has extended its reach for the first time by collaborating with Tiffany & Co.’s “Makers,” who are artists at the renowned jeweler’s hollowware facility in Rhode Island. The creation of the bag, which takes around four months, perfectly captures the expertise of both maisons.
A homage to heritage and age-old know-how, a unique silversmithing technique called “Chasing” is used to craft the Tiffany Baguette bags. Fendi further explains: “Typically, in silversmithing, shapes are formed out of the silver before any patterns or details are added. The sterling silver Tiffany Baguette, however, was crafted around the floral pattern itself.”
The bag, which weighs about 2,356 grams, is a statement item and a creative piece. Additionally, Fendi is introducing a special collection of Tiffany Baguette bags in smooth leather, glossy croc leather, studded with diamonds, and silk satin to go along with the metal version. Additionally, the bags are available in medium, nano, and pico sizes. This partnership between two titans of the high-end fashion world is an example of how both sides have long-standing house rules.
In 2022, there were several noteworthy partnerships in the fashion industry, including those between Gucci and Adidas, Dior and Birkenstock, Burberry and Supreme, and Louis Vuitton and Nike. And 2023 appears to be a year where partnerships will continue to rule thanks to this new partnership between Fendi and Tiffany.
