The World’s First AI-Designed Garment Created in the Real World
G-Star RAW, the innovative denim brand, has taken the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in fashion design to the next level with their unique piece of denim couture, the “AI Denim Cape.” This remarkable garment showcases how AI is being used in reality and how it can enhance the creative process rather than take it over.
Collaborating with the AI app Midjourney, G-Star’s design team created 12 unique designs using a series of prompts. These concepts combine cutting-edge technology with timeless design, resulting in a unique combination of creativity that only humans and AI can achieve together. From the 12 designs, one was selected to be brought to life by hand in the G-Star atelier, resulting in an original piece of RAW denim couture.
The AI Denim Cape is made from premium raw denim, featuring futuristic 3D ‘G’ shapes on the arms, detailed stitching patterns on the chest, an adjustable waistband, and subtle G-Star branding on the left inner side. As a one-of-a-kind garment, it showcases G-Star’s denim expertise and precision craftsmanship, which only humans are capable of.

The newly designed AI Denim Cape will be showcased at the G-Star RAW Antwerp store, as the world’s first garment designed by AI and created in the real world. This innovative partnership between technology and human craftsmanship demonstrates how AI can be used to push the limits of denim design, while preserving the essence of human creativity.
