The Most Gilded And Glamorous Looks Of The Met Gala 2022

After postponing the event until September last year due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Met Gala returned in 2022 with a lineup of visitors who came dressed to slay the theme while raising donations for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York. The Met Gala is defined by its fashion, and with so many designers wanting to go over and beyond to make a statement, you can always expect a clash of glamorous and wild at the high-octane event.

Naturally, the night’s theme — rooted in the late-nineteenth-century era known as The Gilded Age — provided an opportunity for celebrities, designers, and influencers to demonstrate their knowledge of fashion history. The Gilded Age’s fashion was distinguished by opulent materials like as silk and tulle, as well as equally extravagant accessories such as bows, feathers, and sequins. Bustles and hourglass shapes were also popular throughout this era’s fashion.

The outfits were not the only unexpected aspect of the evening. Attendees witnessed a love tale unfold as former assembly candidate Bobby Digi Olisa dropped down on one knee and proposed to New York City Commissioner of Cultural Affairs Laurie Cumbo. She, of course, said yes!

Billie Eilish, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, SZA, Bad Bunny, Rosala, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Normani, Erykah Badu, Future, Lizzo, Anderson.Paak, Questlove, Janelle Monáe, Kacey Musgraves, Camila Cabello, Stromae, and many more attended the 2022 Met Gala. While we anticipated to see many versions of 19th-century fashion on the red carpet, the night witnessed more non-traditional adaptations of this year’s theme.
