Swatch Group organizes its own exhibition in March

What was once the Mecca of watchmaking fairs now looks at a complete overhaul

A retailer invited by the Swatch Group to his own exhibition forwarded his invitation to Reuters, who revealed the story. This exhibition will be held from 19 to 26 March and in Zurich instead of Basel. Rumors are circulating that the group would hold its own fair after leaving the Baselworld stable earlier this year, but few people thought it would hold such competitive dates.

The fair of Baselworld will take place from March 21st to 26th, unlike that of the Swatch Group.

Swatch Group, which announced its release from Baselworld earlier this year, sent an invitation containing the words “Time to Move”, the dates of March 2019, a drawing depicting the city of Zurich and the names of the most popular brands. It is important to note that for the moment, the journalists have not been invited and that the Swatch group has not yet responded to Reuters requests. This could mean that the “Time to Move” exhibition would be focused solely on retailers, with each brand exhibiting its pieces to the media.

Retailers will not see the Swatch Group’s brands as Breguet at Baselworld

With the previous announcement of the consecutive SIHH and Baselworld projection to 2020, it would appear that the sector is about to change its schedule completely.
