Face masks are the hottest accessories this season and at the just concluded NYFW SS21, the streets were filled with fashion lovers who showed off their masked approach to style. As the new norm, face coverings were required and those present were expected to adhere to social distancing, diagnostic testing, and health screening procedures. In the past, the NYFW was usually a weeklong marathon of events, fashion shows at locations all over, after parties, and enough street style to feed the eyes but this was pared down immensely this year. This season, there were only four days of the runway show, and brands that usually headlined sat this one out with only a handful of them choosing creative ways to showcase their collections with most showing on CFDA’s 360 runway online.
There weren’t a lot of attendees but for most of the attendees, casual clothing was the order of the day with stylish face masks complimenting their looks even though some of them took it off to pose for the street style photographers who were there to capture their looks. Animal prints and decorative masks also caught our attention as well as the footwear that was sampled on the streets.
