Sephora 5-0 Grind, It’s Electric Lipstories Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches

5-0 Grind (56)

Sephora 5-0 (56) Grind Lipstories Lipstick ($8.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a bright, periwinkle blue with strong, cool undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied decently but had room for improvement–there was slight unevenness along the edges, especially along my lip lines. I also had product sink into my lip lines enough that it was noticeable in person. The lipstick had a creamy, smooth consistency that didn’t feel overly emollient, so it didn’t slide around while worn. It stayed on well for four hours on me and felt lightly hydrating over time.

Colour Pop Make Believe (LE, $7.00) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar).Fenty Beauty Ya Dig (P, $18.00) is darker (85% similar).MAC Dew (P, $19.50) is lighter (80% similar).Colour Pop Trill Seeker (P, $7.00) is darker, more muted (80% similar).NYX Earl Grey (P, $6.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar).Sephora + Pantone Universe Serenity (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar).MAC Jean Genie (LE, $19.50) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar).

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.14 oz. – $57.14 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be “lightweight” with “full-coverage color in one swipe.” The majority of shades were pigmented with semi-opaque to full color payoff in a single layer, as described. The more shimmery shades tended to be a bit sheerer overall, while the mattes and creams were usually closer to opaque in coverage. The textures were typically creamy, lightweight, and not too thin or too thick on the lips, so they were comfortable to apply and to wear. There were some shades where the color pulled into my deeper lip lines upon application, and it was more or less noticeable just depending on the color and finish of the particular.

Some shades seemed hydrating and others were non-drying. They lasted anywhere from three to over six hours on me. There was a subtle, sweet, fruity scent (I couldn’t detect it on, just in the tube), and I haven’t noticed any taste after wearing them.

It’s Electric (57)

Sephora It’s Electric (57) Lipstories Lipstick ($8.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a deep, eggplant purple base with warmer undertones and cooler purple and violet shimmer. It had an emollient consistency that felt a little slippery as it glided across my lips, and while it didn’t sink too noticeably into my lip lines, it was uneven. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that wasn’t buildable, and it was the type of product that I’d recommend wearing over a lip liner to help minimize the patchiness and reduce the slip. This shade lasted well for three and a half hours but sank more and more into my lip lines over time. On the upside, it was comfortable to wear and lightly moisturizing over time.

Pretty Vulgar Made with Mischief (P, $24.00) is more shimmery, darker, warmer (80% similar).MAC Metal Head (LE, $19.50) is lighter, warmer (85% similar).MAC Kling It On (LE, $19.50) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar).Urban Decay Reverb (P, $18.00) is more shimmery, lighter, less pigmented (85% similar).Urban Decay Monarchy (P, $18.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (85% similar).Maybelline Smoked Silver (P, $7.49) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar).Fenty Beauty Smokin’ Purp (LE, ) is more shimmery, more pigmented, cooler (80% similar).Ciate Fortune (P, $19.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar).Urban Decay Vanity (P, $18.00) is more shimmery, darker, more pigmented (80% similar).Too Faced Trampula (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar).
