Runway Goes Digital: See The Most Rave-worthy Designs From PFW Fall 2020 Couture

Travel and movement may still be restricted around the world due to the coronavirus pandemic, but there is nothing stopping us from enjoying the little pleasures the world of fashion holds. The annual PFW Fall 2020 Couture canceled its physical shows but for the first time ever, the show went digital. With Paris Fashion Week Fall Couture 2020 going digital, you can now enjoy the show from the front row as long as you have an internet connection.

Designers did not let the pandemic stop them from designing show-stopping looks and we can’t wait to see these looks come to life on the red carpet once life goes back to normal.

The shows

Dior presented its couture 2020 collection in a video storytelling format titled Le Mythe Dior. For the collection, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by “the journeys of five indomitable, magnificently inspiring figures of the Surrealist movement: Lee Miller, Dora Maar, Dorothea Tanning, Leonora Carrington, and Jacqueline Lamba.”

For Balmain’s 75th-anniversary couture show, Olivier Rousteing made the Seine River his stage with models wearing pieces from the brand’s couture archives and it was live-streamed exclusively on their TikTok account. For Chanel, Virginie Viard showcased a new side of her design talent with a rock-inspired lineup that featured heavy embellishments and ’80s-inspired party dresses.
