Two essential elements of Ibiza's nightlife, Amnesia and Privilege were temporarily suspended after illegal structural adjustments. These changes would have been made to strengthen the capacity of both institutions.
Inspections in September revealed that the changes had been violated and both clubs have now been suspended by the San Antonio Council. Clubs can reopen once the architectural changes have been changed in the code.
Many areas of the upper floor of Amnesia were enlarged without authorization. The privilege also allowed the unregistered parts of the club to be used as dancefloors, accommodating up to 500 additional people.
Amnesia and Privilege are expected to remain closed during the off-season and are expected to pay € 650 and € 54,999, respectively. Two undisclosed sites were also billed for their closure later than is permitted during the summer season.
