However, this time, the UK-based fashion retailer has surprised the fashion world with a commitment to inclusivity as it features a black plus-size Muslimah model to promote its new line of modest clothing. For the modest line edit, the brand chose London-based plus-size influencer, Billy Marsal. This will be the first time a model wearing the hijab or headscarf will be posing for the PrettyLittleThing store.

The collection features everything from everyday dresses to swimwear and gym gear, as well as prom dresses, sports hijab, and turbans. The PrettyLittleThing’s modest clothing edit is a new section that follows a successful debut in the Middle East. The womenswear brand spoke about their inspiration saying: “Following our successful launch into the Middle East we are delighted to be launching our ‘Modest clothing’ collection on site. Our ethos of ‘EveryBODYinPLT is extremely important to us, so it’s been amazing seeing such positive customer feedback and working with models who represent all of our customer base.”

Billy Marsal who is new to the world of professional modeling is excited to represent young Muslim women and help them find fashionable clothes that uphold their religious values. She said, “It’s an insane feeling. Yes, I am Black, I am Muslim, I am plus size, but I never thought it would be me to make people feel like this.”
