At last month’s Monterey Car Week, European carmaker Automobili Pininfarina unveiled the Battista GT hypercar, and also previewed the new Pura Vision design model.
The updated Battista features a newly enhanced front end, making this its debut in North America. It was recently sculpted, following wind tunnel testing and final design refinements. CEO Michael Perschke said the Battista represented Automobili Pininfarina’s roadmap for the future – pure-electric hypercars for luxury consumers.
The Battista has an ability to rev up from 0 to 62 mph in less than two seconds, enhancing 1,900 horse power and 2,300 Nm of torque. With this new and improved aerodynamic form and design, its range has also improved – it will now be able to go over 300 miles (450 km) on the back of just a single charge.
“Visitors to Monterey Car Week know and love Pininfarina-designed cars, and we love to present them with something special during this fantastic series of events. We arrived with an impressive number of reservations for Battista already secured by clients in North America, and that number has nearly doubled in just a few days here,” said Perschke.
“We are building our brand and developing an exciting future product portfolio. We are committed to delivering purity, beauty and rarity in Battista and in a future range of pure-electric Italian luxury cars.”
Design Director Luca Borgogno then treated guests to a much-anticipated preview of the PURA Vision design model. This gave the clients, journalists, specialist retail partners, and owners of Pininfarina-designed sports and luxury cars in attendance, an inspirational view of the aesthetics of a futuristic pure-electric Luxury Utility Vehicle from the Italian marque.
The PURA Vision blends design themes which Battista Pininfarina himself made famous by creating some of the most revered and beautiful sports cars in history.
“Yet it is absolutely an insight into our future; a luxury vehicle like no other and once again designed to deliver thrilling EV performance”, said Borgogno.
