What a difference a few weeks make. While almost all of the top 10 models of New York Fashion Week Fall 2019 were women of color, sadly, the same didn’t hold true when we factored in London, Milan and Paris. Actually, it was almost the complete opposite.
There was just a trio of nonwhite models in this season’s top 10. (Adut Akech and Blesnya Minher, of South Sudanese and Angolan descent respectively, just missed the list with 29 shows apiece.) And only three models migrated from our New York list to this seasonal roundup. Clearly, three is not our lucky number.
