Natasha Denona Sunrise Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Sunrise

Natasha Denona Sunrise 15-Pan Small Eyeshadow Palette is a new, permanent palette designed to complement the original Sunset palette. It is a smaller format palette–mini by the brand’s standards but more average-sized with respect to most eyeshadow palettes these days. I really hope the brand continues to release palettes in this format (I’d be happy with these over the larger 15-pans, as they retail for $129, and it is hard to finish up a single eyeshadow… period).

Most of the eyeshadows were semi-opaque to opaque in coverage, blendable, and easy to work with on my skin with eight to nine-hour wear.  Aster was the most “difficult” shade in the palette, as I found it had a tendency to sheer out and had some fallout, so that’s one that I felt needed to be used with fingertips or a wet brush.  The mattes were definitely the highlight in the palette–substantial without being too dense and blendable without being too powdery.

Poppy

Poppy is a light-mediumr ed with warm undertones and a subtle, pink sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage that applied well to my skin, though it was a smidgen thin and less cream-like compared to most of the brand’s shimmer shades. It wore well for eight hours on me before it started to fade.

Citrine

Citrine is a rich, medium-dark yellow with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely, though I felt like it had a tendency to sheer out a bit over bare skin (I’d recommend a primer underneath). The consistency was smooth, soft, and lightly powdery but not messy to work with. It stayed on well for just over eight hours on me before it started to show signs of wearing away.

Phlox

Phlox is a medium-dark red with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, lightly creamy consistency that was a bit thinner than typical for the brand’s formula, but the eyeshadow very blendable and easy to work with on my skin. It lasted beautifully for eight and a half hours on my skin before fading noticeably.

Awakening

Awakening is a light, peachy copper with warm, orange undertones and gold-to-pink shifting sparkle. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage with a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was easy to pick up and to blend out on my skin. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Laurel

Laurel is a medium, golden beige with warmer undertones and a pearly sheen. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and blended out easily on my skin. The texture was slightly thinner, not as cream-like as most of the brand’s shimmers, but picked up well on my brush. It stayed on well for eight hours before it started to show signs of wear.

Aster

Aster is a rosy plum with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, blue-to-violet sparkle. It had a drier, more loosely-pressed consistency, which resulted in slight fallout and a tendency for the product to sheer out when applied to my skin. If I wanted more opacity and true-to-pan depth, I needed to apply it with fingertips or a wet brush. It lasted well for eight hours on me before fading visibly.

Glory

Glory is a deep pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color payoff with a soft, lightly dusty consistency that felt a bit dry to the touch but wasn’t grainy (some red/berry shades can be). It blended out fairly well, but I noticed that it seemed to darken slightly on one eye (but not the other… it did this on two separate occasions) so it may be particularly sensitive to any oiliness/tackiness of either bare skin or a primer. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before there were signs of fading.

Azalea

Azalea is a medium-dark, slightly muted copper with warm, rusty red undertones and pink-to-violet sparkle. The texture was slightly drier and felt more loosely-pressed, which resulted in a touch of fallout during application. The pigmentation was good, buildable, but best opacity was achieved applied with a fingertip or a wet brush. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Agate

Agate is a bright, peachy gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was a bit thicker and denser in the pan so I’d recommend using a synthetic brush and/or moderate hand to pick up product evenly. It had opaque pigmentation that adhered well to bare skin and blended out easily. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Jasper

Jasper is a muted, deeper copper with strong, warm orange undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque in a single pass, while the eyeshadow had a soft, velvety consistency that wasn’t too soft nor too firmly pressed in the pan. I had no trouble applying it to my bare lid and blending it out to my satisifaction. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours on my skin before showing signs of fading.

Natasha Denona Day Spring Metallic Eye Shadow

Day Spring

Day Spring is a medium bronze with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. The color coverage was opaque in one layer, while the texture was lightly creamy, dense and a little thicker, so it tended to pick up best with synthetic brushes or with fingertips for the smoothest application. It lasted well for eight hours on me before creasing faintly.
