NARS Loaded Lip Lacquer Review & Swatches

Foxy

NARS Foxy Loaded Lip Lacquer is a muted, medium-dark brown with strong, warm orange undertones and a cream finish. It had a smooth, almost cream-like texture but it had a flexible, almost vinyl-like feel to it at times; no tackiness or heaviness at all, though. It had good color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly across my lips with only a smidgen of product in my deeper lip lines (but not enough to be noticeable in person). The gloss lasted nicely for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Freestyle

NARS Freestyle Loaded Lip Lacquer is a deeper, coppery brown with warm, red undertones and a cream finish. It had a shiny finish that wasn’t as traditionally glossy–perhaps not as “thick” in a sense–compared to most glosses. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and non-sticky, but it felt like it clung to my lips slightly, which gave it better hold (but wasn’t uncomfortable).

It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly but had a few visible streaks when I pressed my lips together along with faint product in deeper lip lines close-up. The color stayed on well for five hours and was moisturizing over time.

Playin’ Around

NARS Playin’ Around Loaded Lip Lacquer is a medium peach with moderate, warm undertones and a shiny, cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in a single layer, but it wasn’t the type of formula that I’d apply a second layer of as it had enough thickness in one layer that a second layer just proved to worsen the application. For as light as the color was, it applied more evenly than anticipated but could have applied more evenly. The gloss was prone to settling into my deeper lip lines, which worsened over the four hours it wore for but was moisturizing while worn.

Young Hearts

NARS Young Hearts Loaded Lip Lacquer is a muted, deep peach with warm undertones and a shiny, cream finish. The texture felt smooth, lightweight, and non-sticky with a creamy, almost vinyl-like look and feel to it, as it wasn’t heavy but it wasn’t as gloss-like on as a traditional lipgloss would have been. It had good pigmentation in a single stroke, though it wasn’t quite opaque, but a second layer would feel heavy and be more prone to streaking. There was a smidgen of product that sank into my deeper lip lines but didn’t seem noticeable in person. It lasted well for four and a half hours and felt hydrating while worn.
