Moncler’s second Born to Protect collection has been released. The collection, which debuted in January, reflects the brand’s commitment to environmental protection. All of the Born to Protect collection’s products are made from low-impact materials such as recycled nylon, polyester, organic cotton, wool, and down, which are all sourced in accordance with specific sustainability standards. The latest collection expands beyond jackets to include a full line of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories.

Moncler then announces plans to discontinue the use of fur after the Fall/Winter 2023 collection. It will also stop sourcing fur this year in order to adhere to its Sustainability Plan. The sustainability strategy is based on five pillars: climate action, circular economy, fair sourcing, diversity enhancement, and giving back to local communities. It also strengthens the brand’s long-term relationship with the Italian animal rights organization LAV (Lega Anti Vivisezione) as a Fur Free Alliance representative. S&P Global named Moncler and Burberry as two of the most sustainable fashion brands in the world in its Corporate Sustainability Assessment.

Moncler intends to have 50% of the nylon used in its collections be sustainable by 2025, zero single-use conventional plastics by next year, and 100% renewable energy at its own sites worldwide by 2023, and according to WWD, it intends to have more than 80% of its suppliers meet the company’s social compliance standards by 2025.

This move comes shortly after Kering’s CEO announced a company-wide fur ban in September. In recent years, there has been a broader shift toward sustainability in the fashion industry, with an increasing number of brands going fur-free. Gucci, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Coach, and Burberry are among the brands that have pledged to stop using fur in their products.

In other fashion news, Miu Miu teased its collaboration with New Balance 574 during its Spring/Summer 2022 runway show last year, and the sneakers are now available for pre-order on the brand’s website. The sneakers come in three colorways, all of which are denim with frayed edges.
