Melt Cosmetics Blueprint 8-Pan Eyeshadow Palette

Blueprint

Melt Cosmetics Blueprint 8-Pan Eyeshadow Palette takes the original Blueprint “stack” and transforms it into a flat eyeshadow palette. None of the shades are new as the original Blueprint stack included split pans, so it always had eight shades in it! I found the shimmers to perform a little bit worse in the re-released version as four of the six were thicker, over-emollient, and harder to apply evenly and were harder to diffuse into the mattes (which were thinner). The pigmentation was there for most shades, but it’s not the easiest palette to apply, blend out, or work with, though longevity wasn’t an issue.

Skylight

Skylight is a light aqua with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had medium, buildable pigmentation paired with a thicker, denser texture that was a bit hard to apply evenly as it tended to get pushed around by my brush rather than lay down smoothly. I would recommend using a fingertip or a dampened brush to get a smoother, more even layer of product. It wore decently for eight hours before fading visibly.

Deadbolt

Deadbolt is a light-medium blue with cooler undertones and a frosted finish. The texture was dense, thicker, and harder to pick up evenly with a brush. It seemed too emollient as well as it had a tendency to apply unevenly to my lid as well. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that lasted decently for seven and a half hours on me.

Dim-out

Dim-out is a vivid, deeper blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that was easily built up to full coverage with a second layer. The consistency was fairly smooth, not too firmly nor too loosely-pressed into the pan, so there was minimal powderiness when picked up with a brush. It applied evenly and blended out without too much difficulty, though it was best applied with a smaller brush and then used with a clean brush to diffuse. It left a stain on my lids after removal and wore for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

King Stud

King Stud is a medium-dark cobalt blue with strong, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. The eyeshadow was thicker, denser, and felt too emollient–it had a tendency to apply unevenly and was harder to diffuse along the edges. I’d recommend using a dampened brush, which helped to thin out the powder and produced a more even result. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that wore well for eight hours before showing signs of wear.

Beaming

Beaming is a bright, yellowy gold with moderate, warm undertones and a frosted finish. It appeared warmer and more orange in the pan than it applied. The texture was drier, a bit thick, and harder to pick up with a brush. I’d recommend using a dampened brush as I felt like it tended to cling to my fingertip and didn’t transfer as well. It had semi-opaque color coverage that lasted for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Hot Wire

Hot Wire is a rich, deeper coppery gold with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The texture was fairly soft, smooth, and blendable and wasn’t nearly as thick or as overly-emollient as the other shimmers were in the palette. It had opaque color payoff that stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Hammered

Hammered is a medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, velvety, and blendable without being too loosely-pressed in the pan, so it wasn’t prone to sheering out or having fallout. This shade was richly pigmented and wore nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Nailed

Nailed is a medium-dark gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had opaque color payoff in a single layer, which adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out without difficulty. The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and dense but not too thick, so it was easy to work with. It lasted well for eight hours before fading a bit.
