Virginie Viard continues to make all the right moves at Chanel, at least when it comes to advertising campaigns. She just made Marion Cotillard the face of the house’s iconic N°5 fragrance securing legendary photographer and firm forum favorite Steven Meisel in the process. The designer also tapped Meisel to capture Chanel’s new handbag campaign for Spring 2020. Marine Vacth, Margaret Qualley and Taylor Russell are the fresh faces of Chanel’s 19 handbag with each posing in front of a white studio backdrop under the creative direction of Sofia Coppola. The actresses each sport the coveted accessory in an array of colors and fabrics while evoking the spirit of the French fashion house.
The campaign received a standing ovation on our forums. “I love how glamorous and vintage these shots appear to be and both Marine and Margaret look incredibly effortless and chic in a way that only Chanel women can look. More of this, please!” applauded dodencebt.
“Love it as well! Marine stuns as usual with that stare of hers, but I like how casual and accessible Margaret looks. Just simple, easy glamour done right,” approved Benn98.
“They look radiant, love me some old, classic shots,” admired YohjiAddict.
“It evokes the glorious days of early 2000s/Emmanuelle Alt era of Chanel,” Lola701 pointed out.
Sharing the same sentiment was vogue28: “First we have Meisel photographing Marion Cotillard for Chanel’s N°5 campaign and now this? Count me in! Marine Vacth has photographed like a dream, her shot especially is very 2000s. Also very much a fan of Margaret Qualley, love her infectious smile here.”
“Marine Vacth’s image SLAYS and sells the bag pretty well,” said xandroh.
