MAC x Rosalia R Picks Highlighter Palette

R Picks

MAC R Picks Extra Dimension Skinfinish x 4 Palette is a new, limited edition highlighter palette that included four shades with three being more luminous and one being more satin-like. All four shades had semi-opaque to opaque color payoff, were blendable, and sat well on my skin without emphasizing my skin’s natural texture. They have a gel-powder hybrid formula, which means the powders can feel almost “stiff” to those who haven’t tried this type of formula, but they work well with moderately-dense, slightly more rounded brushes and deliver particularly seamless powder on skin such that they look almost cream-like as a result.

Maca

Maca is a light, yellowy gold with moderate, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had opaque pigmentation paired with a smooth, slightly firmer texture that wasn’t stiff to work with, but it had no powderiness either. The gel-powder hybrid formula picked up well with a dry brush and delivered glowing highlighter that didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. It lasted well for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

Rosa Peach

Rose Peach is a light peach with moderate, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. The texture was slightly firmer to the touch without being powdery nor was it stiff, as I had no trouble picking it up with a moderately-dense brush. It had opaque color coverage that adhered evenly to my skin and diffused with little effort. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.

Guindilla

Guindilla is a medium-dark coral with moderate, warm undertones and a satin finish. It was significantly less luminous than most of the brand’s Extra Dimension products. It had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a moderately-dense, slightly firm texture that still picked up well with a dry brush but was best used with a moderately-dense brush. The powder applied evenly to bare skin and blended out beautifully. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly on me.

Miel de Azhar

Miel de Azhar is a medium-dark copper base with lighter, warmer golden bronze shimmer and a luminous finish. It had rich color payoff in a single layer, though it could be used with a lighter hand for more buildable coverage if desired. The gel-powder formula worked best with a moderately-dense brush, as it has a firmer feel but is quite yielding and “melts” on skin for a more seamless application. It lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably.
