MAC Lunar Luck Eyeshadow Palette
Made My Fortune
The MAC Lunar Luck Eyeshadow x 9 Palette is a limited edition palette released to commemorate the Lunar New Year. It comes in nine different shades, with five mattes and four shimmers. The mattes consistently outperformed the shimmers, though two of the shimmers were excellent and one was a dud.
Shell We Celebrate
Shell We Celebrate has a matte finish and is a medium peach with warmer, more orange-leaning undertones. The texture was soft, lightly powdery, but blendable, and did not sheer out easily. It had a mostly opaque color payoff that lasted for eight hours before fading noticeably.
Sunkissed Orange
Sunkissed Orange is a pale orange with warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied evenly and blended out well on bare skin, and the texture was soft, lightly powdery, but not prone to fallout. It lasted for about eight hours before fading noticeably.
Born to Rule
Born to Rule is a rich, honeyed gold with warm undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was moderately dense, almost excessively so, necessitating a slightly heavier hand to pick up product evenly. Over time, it seemed to soften a little. The eyeshadow had a lot of pigmentation and lasted for about eight hours on me.
15 Minutes of Flame
15 Minutes of Flame is a deep orange-brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a smooth, velvety texture that was finely milled, blendable, and neither too powdery nor too firmly pressed into the pan. This color lasted for eight hours before fading noticeably.
Made My Fortune
Made My Fortune is a medium gold with warm undertones and a shimmering, metallic finish. Because the sparkles did not adhere as well to the base, the texture was slightly drier and more prone to fallout. I’d recommend pressing this shade into place with your fingertip to help control the fallout. It had a mostly opaque, buildable color payoff that lasted for eight hours with only minor fallout.
Propitious Poppy
Propitious Poppy is a rich orange-red with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had an incredibly smooth, finely milled texture in the pan that wasn’t powdery but wasn’t overly firm. The eyeshadow provided rich color coverage and lasted for eight hours.
Plum What May
Plum What May is a dark red with undertones of warm tones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation and a slightly firmer, drier texture, but it blended well in practice. This color wore well for eight hours before noticeably fading.
Supreme Harmony
Supreme Harmony is a light pinky-plum with warm undertones and cool sparkle flecks. It had semi-sheer color payoff due to a drier, more crumbly texture with a lot of fallout during application. This color worked best when applied with a dampened brush. During the six hours it was active, there was a lot of fallout.
Wish Me Luck
Wish Me Luck is a rich, golden bronze with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The eyeshadow was smooth, moderately dense, and slightly cream-like to the touch, with opaque pigmentation. After eight hours of wear, there were signs of fading.
