For those who work in social media, Instagram has caused a lot of headaches in 2018. With various changes made to the flow algorithm and the introduction of a new feature of "Friends Close" on Stories, there is a lot to do and adapt to it.
Even if you do not work in social media, Instagram is one of the most used apps on the market today.
This morning, users got more than what they had expected when they discovered a brand new interface for viewing messages: side scrolling. See below.
I have the new horizontal scrolling interface of Instagram. I'm sure this will not cause any backlash on everyone's part. But seems perhaps intended to reduce blind vertical scrolling? cc @mosseri comments at the end 😭 pic.twitter.com/fwmtbfjFaf

In a short time, the update has been reversed. In the end, it was a major mistake.
Adam Mosseri, director of Instagram, commented on the flub. Instagram also commented on their official account, but told a different story.
Sorry, it must have been a very small test, but we went further than expected.

Due to a bug, some users have noticed a change in the presentation of their stream today. We quickly solved the problem and the diet returned to normal. We apologize for any confusion.

Fortunately, this is not a permanent change and it does not seem like it will happen any time soon. Even happier perhaps, it's that Instagram has now seen how this new interface would be universally hated if it was actually implemented.
