ColourPop California Love Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

California Love

Colour Pop California Love 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette is a new, warm-toned neutral palette featuring a mix of mattes, shimmers, and glittery shades across an assortment of hues ranging from mid-tone peach to mid-tone taupe. Diego felt too emollient, which made it harder to apply it evenly without using it with a wet brush, while Surfrider was overly firm, so it was stiffer and took more effort to use it.

Diego

Diego is a light, golden copper with a sparkling, metallic finish. It had more medium, buildable pigmentation, which seemed to be owed in part to the more emollient, silicone-heavy feel of the eyeshadow itself. It was harder to apply it evenly, and I felt like using a flat, synthetic brush was best (fingertip actually seemed to move it around too much). It wore well eight hours on me and had slight fallout over time.

Gnarly

Gnarly is a medium, muted peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, lightly powdery in the pan, and blendable, which made it easy to work with. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer and stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Sequoia

Sequoia is a bright pop of tangerine orange with strong, warm yellow undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer on top. The consistency was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but it applied evenly and wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily. This shade lasted well for eight hours on my skin before showing signs of fading.

Gold Rush

Gold Rush is a muted, coppery brown with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage in a single pass, which adhered evenly and blended out nicely on my skin. The consistency was soft without being too powdery nor was it too firmly pressed in the pan. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before creasing faintly.

HWY 1

HWY 1 is a medium-dark brown with warm undertones and flecks of gold sparkle over a matte finish. The texture was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but very smooth and almost velvety as it was denser than most mattes by the brand. It had rich pigmentation that went on evenly and blended out with little effort. It stayed on for eight hours on me before fading visibly.

Laguna

Laguna is a light-medium orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had intense color payoff that adhered well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of color. The texture was soft, blendable, and finely-milled without being too powdery nor too firmly pressed in the pan. The eyeshadow lasted nicely for eight hours on me before I noticed any fading.

Colour Pop El Capitan Pressed Glitter

El Capitan

El Capitan is a mix of various depths of gold micro-glitter. The glitter was finer than in most of the Pressed Glitters I’ve tried thus far, though it is still glitter and as a result, it is listed as “not intended for use in the immediate eye area.” The texture had slip to it, and the product adhered well to bare skin with minimal fallout both during application and later on during wear–there was just a touch of migration/fallout after eight hours of wear.

Colour Pop Surfrider Pressed Powder Shadow

Surfrider

Surfrider is a light-medium, orange-brown base with flecks of gold sparkle on top. The texture was firmer, stiffer in the pan, and it felt thinner as I applied it, which made it harder to pick up with a brush and then diffuse onto my skin. It had good pigmentation, but it was the texture that made it harder to work with. It stayed on well for eight hours on me before fading, but there was light fallout over time.

Cahuenga

Cahuenga is a rich, coppery bronze with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had an incredibly smooth, lightly creamy consistency that felt almost emollient to the touch. It had rich pigmentation that adhered well to bare skin and blended out easily on my lid. It lasted well for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed signs of fading.

Mission

Mission is a medium-dark taupe with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. The pigmentation was opaque in one pass, though the texture was a bit firmer and stiffer compared to other shades in the palette. I didn’t have too much trouble picking it up as a heavier handed approach did the trick, and I didn’t have any issues with blending out the edges on my lid. It wore well eight hours before fading noticeably on my skin.

Cruisin’

Cruisin’ is a light-medium gold with strong, warm orange undertones and a soft, metallic finish. It had good pigmentation that was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. The texture was soft, a little powdery to the touch, but it applied well without sheering out or having fallout. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

The Bay

The Bay is a light, peachy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, lightly powdery in the pan but blendable on my skin without being prone to fallout. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly to my lid. This shade lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.
