Models are all we want on our September covers and Vogue Netherlands grants our wish this month. The last time the magazine caught our attention (for the wrong reasons) was back in April with its 100th anniversary issue, but it’s back in our good graces with a trio of covers for September 2019. What better way to celebrate the most important month on the newsstand calendar than by welcoming a duo of Dutch beauties? Models-of-the-moment Birgit Kos and Luna Bijl transport us to the 80s (and the Côte d’Azur) in the retro-inspired covers shot by Carlijn Jacobs.
The covers were just what our forum members were craving. “Getting vintage Vogue vibes! Surprisingly, I like all three covers,” raved aracic.
“Oh my! This is gorgeous, all three attempts, well done!” applauded Miss Dalloway.
“The images are perfection. This has been my most anticipated cover so far because of the new EIC’s full-fledged debut and it doesn’t disappoint. Love the shot of both girls together. Very easy yet glam retro vibe even though it’s not exactly Carlijn’s vibe. Luna’s solo cover is also stunning,” Benn98 approved.
“Gorgeous models make gorgeous covers. By far my favorite September covers so far,” declared mathiaskatz.
Sharing the same sentiment was 333101: “Instantly blows all the other September covers out of the water! These are spot-on. The first cover in particular emulates a classic 80s Vogue perfectly — and what a perfect cast to pull it off with.”
“The covers that we deserve! This might well be the best September covers of Vogue in a while!” commented AFWQ.
Mercury6181 was in the same frame of mind: “Wow these are all amazing, I love them! When I first saw these on Instagram, I thought they were vintage covers and my first thoughts were that I wish covers were still this good and turns out some still can be! Love it!”
