Nina Garcia has endorsed a whole bunch of musicians during her tenure at ELLE and in 2019 alone, the mag has featured Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Céline Dion and Miley Cyrus on its covers. For October 2019, ELLE‘s “Women in Music” issue shines a spotlight on Billie Eilish, Lizzo and Camila Cabello, each making their debut as ELLE cover stars. On the trio of bold, bright covers, the songstresses wear looks from Louis Vuitton, Jean Paul Gaultier and David Koma pulled by Anna Trevelyan for the Yvan Fabing-shot images.
But which cover caught the eyes of our forum members? “Billie’s cover looks so good. Though the nails are TOO MUCH for such simple styling and makeup. Lizzo could have been better, but I love it because it’s HER. Disappointed with Camila’s though. Very off-brand with what she’s portraying right now,” critiqued MON.
“Who would’ve thought that Camila’s cover would be my favorite,” commented dodencebt.
“Hate that styling on Lizzo, perhaps it could’ve worked as a close-up instead. Billie and Camila look nice. Also a very weird lineup, you have all these new-ish stars and then you throw in THE queen of rap Nicki Minaj,” aracic pointed out.
“The only cover that works here is the Camila one, it’s just a beautiful shot of her. I really don’t like her music, or her style, but she really pulled this off,” confessed Miss Dalloway.
Perickles was in the same frame of mind: “The only one who looks good is Camila Cabello and I don’t even like her music.”
“Three perfect subjects for the ‘Women in Music’ issue, they’ve dominated charts and radios worldwide. The covers are not perfect, but also not bad,” apple admitted.
“The three of them are on point. Maybe my favorite ELLE covers of the year,” raved jorgepalomo.
“Love the color scheme and styling of the three covers,” praised kokobombon.
