Best Palettes of Eyeshadows

2018 should it become the year of the palette of eye shadows? I had the impression of reviewing pallet after pallet from the beginning of the year to the end of December! Many years ago, palettes seemed to be mostly reserved for the holiday season, especially for shades larger than five. I remember when I started buying make-up and MAC regularly distributed six-pan pallets in summer and Christmas, and then you had brands like Chanel and Dior that regularly released quads and quints.

The palettes do not miss this year at an assortment of different prices, but even more impressive, the diversity of color combinations that I expected was greater. I wish I could be more restrained, but Pat McGrath’s eye shadows speak to me in a way that does not have a lot of make-up; Whenever I use my eyeshadow Pat McGrath in a look, I like the end result – I look in the mirror to enjoy the result of a look. But phew! six MTHRSHP pallets and two Mothership pallets were released in 2018 only.

I would like MAC to publish some of their 15-bowl palettes with existing shades; I just think that Terry Barber’s palette has highlighted some of the jewels in the base range that are often overlooked nowadays. I was totally shocked that Too Faced’s gingerbread spice was very well prepared. I like shimmering eye shadows, and tart getting better and better with their shimmering eye shadows, so their newest Tarteist PRO remix was quite to my taste.

ColourPop has launched a multitude of palettes this year, but the three that I have most appreciated are Good Sport, Salvaje and Chasing Rainbows (the latter being my first choice for ColourPop palettes this year). In the same spirit, Urban Decay’s Born to Run palette looks like a “return to form” in a certain way: an avant-garde palette that is a real workaholic, but one that goes beyond the Naked range. I think Melt’s Gemini palette has proven that green eye shadows can be sold, and that the NARS have shown that they can create large eye shadows; we just had to give them some time to do it.
