Baselworld and the SIHH meet again

The fair Baselworld will be moved from late March to early May from 2020

The constant updates of the world’s largest watch and jewelery fair, Baselworld, have resulted in an interesting end of year. Announced last night in a press release, Baselworld will synchronize its calendar with the Geneva-based International Haute Horlogerie Show (SIHH), by 2020.

The SIHH will be held from April 26 to 29 in Geneva, followed closely by Baselworld from April 30 to May 5 in Basel. The calendars were synchronized until 2024. It is a return to the calendar prior to 2009, where the fairs were held one after the other. The current provisions of the SIHH in January and Basel in the world in March forced industry professionals to travel twice within three months to Switzerland.

Richard Mille and Audemars Piguet both announced earlier this year that he would not join the SIHH in 2020. However, it was before the last update and he remains to be seen if things will change

However, from the point of view of the end consumer, nothing will change since the placing on the market of timepieces has always been staggered throughout the year. What will change however, is the coverage of the fairs. If you could read a long cover for the SIHH in February and then in April for Baselworld, it seems that may be the month of the year to plan in advance the timepieces that you want.

The World of Watches and LUXUO teams will be heading towards this new and greatly expanded season of watchmaking and watchmaking.
